Our founder and director, Salka, visited the team in Mexico for two weeks with a program full of activities.
Workshops at a partner school
A full day of workshops was programmed with a rural school outside of Querétaro. The whole team joined to both facilitate, observe and connect with the community. This was a good opportunity to also talk to the three teachers who also manage the school about the needs they see in the community and the collaboration going forward.
To finish the day, a traditional doll from the area was gifted as a thank you for the visit. We look forward to continue the collaboration with the school and community going forward.
Family event
The team has been preparing materials and activities to facilitate family events with partner schools, and during the visit, the first event was held at a small rural school outside Querétaro.
The event consisted in a brief talk on why it is important to talk about sexuality with kids and teens, and afterwards different activities for the moms to participate in.
Through games and activies, the moms worked with various topics relevant to the age of the students and it was beautiful to see how they engaged with eachother, discussed and reflected on the topics.
Lastly the moms received materials to bring home so they can continue the talk on sexuality and rights with their kids.
Strategy and planning
Over several days, the team discussed important changes in the context, how the collaboration with partner schools is going as well as new opportunities to further expand the impact as well as capacitate build the team. This is all important parts of the strategic planning for the work going forward.
Lastly, we could celebrate 3 years of working in Mexico! What a beautiful way to finish the visit.
